It forms a high-performance self-learning Ethernet Remote Bridge intended for expansion and interconnection of LANs over infrastructures of solid bit flow type.
The bridge automatically memorizes MAC addresses of the LAN it connects to, and it uses wide-area network links to forward those frames only destined for the outside of the LAN. The address table can store up to 15,000 LAN addresses providing automatic update capabilities. The buffer can contain up to 256 frames.
